I KNOW – it’s been awhile! We have been quite busy this past week in the Driskell household and promise to tell you all about THAT later but for now…
My little is getting MARRIED!!
A few weekends ago, I spent the weekend with some lovely ladies and boy did it bring me right back to my college days in Alpha Phi! We were all in the sorority together and it was such a blast hanging out with them and spending the weekend celebrating Katie’s upcoming wedding!
As you may have seen in the preview – we spent the weekend at the most wonderful bed and breakfast, The Uphill House, and toured some lovely Virginia wineries! The weekend was so relaxing and Alex and I were so happy to be able to break out the Nikons and take advantage of the gorgeous sceneries!
We visited four vineyards – Horton, Barboursville, Honah Lee and Keswick. They were all so nice and completely unique! Horton Vineyards has the most beautiful building! It’s like a castle out of a fairy tale! Plus – so many wines to taste!
Barboursville was definitely the most historic! The grounds are home to the ruins of an old house with a very famous architect – good old Thomas Jefferson! We had a blast tasting a ton of wines there in their GORGEOUS tasting room and then we grabbed a few plates of cheese and crackers and went to scope out the ruins. It was definitely one of my favorites!
Honah Lee was so special because they let you do tastings of BOTH wine and their fabulous jams and jellies! We probably ate more than a “tasting” – it was delicious! They even had a garlic jelly that sounds kind of gross but let me tell you: it was surprisingly tasty!
Last was Keswick and friends, if you haven’t been there before – do yourself a favor and check it out. This is a huge vineyard and one of the most popular in VA for good reason! They have beautiful grounds and some really tasty wines.
We had such a blast and really enjoyed a completely relaxing weekend. The Uphill House was so hospitable and we enjoyed some really delicious breakfasts, warm fires on the deck and s’mores! I highly recommend checking them out for a tranquil weekend away!
And of course, I want to congratulate my little, Katie, on her upcoming marriage and wish her and her future husband Steve many, many years of happiness and love. Marriage is such a wonderful adventure – enjoy every minute!
